Change me for another country

Change me for a different land

where fortune tellers

utter

what you and I refuse

Render me desert

no fiery trees holding hands

and heeding as they lay

change while you gasp for air

while you murmur

the sounds of a churchy town

the futile cry and bell

far and drowning

change the birding cat

the yelping fox

the praying

the untold

the sleeping

the dead

lay me down in water

lay me down dead

take away the fire
